About the Program


The Master of Education degree in Educational Management aims at preparing students for careers in Educational sectors such as university teaching, institutional administration, programme management, supervision of schools, Educational planning, economics of Education, researchers and consultants. The programme puts more emphasis on the functional areas of Educational management and strongly on development of skills for problems solving, leadership, situational analysis and policy development. Students are trained to perform ‘hands-on’ basic organization functions, and combine with the theoretical knowledge acquired and the analytic skills to identify and define problems, analyse them, generate alternative solutions, choose among the best alternative decisions and implement them.


Program Objectives


The goal of the Master of Education degree in Educational Management is to provide students with a wide range of skills, knowledge and attitudes to respond to the needs of Educational institutions for effective management and development.
By the end of the programme, the learner will be able to:

  • Have acquired knowledge, skills and positive attitudes of Educational management;
  • Effectively manage resources at their disposal i.e. people, finances, time according to established rules;
  • Carry out research on issues arising from their Educational practice;
  • Apply the acquired knowledge skills and attitudes to influence Educational policy, programmes and general development of Educational institutions;
  • Contribute positively to the larger issues of Educational policy and practice.


Admission Requirements


All candidates admitted to the programme of Master of Education in Educational Management must satisfy the minimum common entrance requirements of Egerton University. In addition, candidates must be holders of at least an Upper Second-Class degree in Education; At least an Upper Second-Class degree in any filed, plus a recognized Post Graduate Diploma n Education; Admission may be offered to exceptional cases as stipulated in the Graduate School Rules for Master’s degree programme
